Christian Life Coach Lesson: Working To Enter Rest
Hebrews 4:11, “Let us therefore be diligent to enter that rest, lest anyone fall according to the same example of disobedience.”
We should not strive for rest but be diligent to enter it. In the natural, we are striving to rest. We work hard to earn a vacation or get to a place in our work life where we can retire.
You are wired for rest. Because of the curse, though, our work is toil. This means that if we don’t work from a place of rest, we will strive for it; we will be under intense pressure and burdens to make things happen. When we operate this way, we take things into our own hands, acting like orphans instead of Sons.
The finished work of Christ allows us to diligently enter this rest. It allows us to not strive anymore, but to allow God. Jesus has given us the fulfillment of this promise through the cross.
You don’t have to strive anymore, you can be diligent in your work and allow God’s power to be your strength.
